Japan Travel Planning Services

Are you planning a trip to Japan but need help building your itinerary? Then allow me to introduce my Japan travel planning service.

Perhaps you have a general idea of what you’d like to see or do but aren’t sure about the details, or perhaps you have no idea at all and need some inspiration from someone with firsthand experience. If you are feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, you have come to the right place!

I can help you with any element of your trip including finding where to stay, how to get there, what to do, what local foods to try, and even finding some of those unique off-the-beaten-track experiences to make your trip one you’ll remember for the rest of your life!

For almost four years  I lived, worked, and traveled extensively throughout Japan. I have traveled across the four main islands of Honshu, Hokkaido, Shikoku, and Kyushu and discovered many hidden gems as well as visiting the bigger tourist hotspots.

I understand the challenges of planning a trip to Japan for the first time – it can be difficult to know which information to trust and a lot of important information like bus timetables are in Japanese only. As for restaurants, many of the best ones don’t even have websites! And how do you know when to book everything?

Why me?

Unlike other travel bloggers who offer planning services for multiple destinations, I only specialize in Japan itineraries because that is where my expertise lies. I have a bachelor’s degree in Japanese language and culture and in addition to my extensive time living and traveling in Japan, I also have 10+ years of experience working in the travel industry. I have worked for tourism organizations for destinations where part of my job was designing and hosting tours for travel agencies to sell to their clients. So I know what makes a good trip and how to design a successful itinerary.

Just wanted to say we are SO happy with the itinerary you made us! It is above and beyond what we were hoping for (especially so last minute!) so really, thank you for helping us feel much more confident about our trip and less overwhelmed. We were really impressed with how you put just the right amount of detail and information we needed to make decisions, without it being too much. - Allie and Myles, traveled to Japan in October 2023 on honeymoon

Tanja is incredible and extremely knowledgeable! We used her to review our existing itinerary rather than create one from scratch, but she went above and beyond to turn our loose set of ideas into something concrete and actionable (26 pages of notes!!). We appreciated how she was able to weave our "must-haves" alongside the hidden gems we would've never found ourselves. It was nice to get an itinerary that allowed you to soak in places rather than "get the Instagram photo then move on to the next thing". We'll definitely use her service next time! - Mark Harris, traveled to Japan in October 2023

We are glowing with our memories of the trip Tanja planned for us. Her help in planning our two-week trip to Japan was masterful and invaluable. She has incredible recommendations on sights to see, experiences to enjoy, accommodation, bike rental etc, and most critically how to get from place to place (in great detail), what to do with your luggage, and all the practical solutions that DIY travelers need. She even provided advice on iconic restaurants where we needed to make reservations weeks in advance, and with her planning advice, we were able to get into all of them. She doesn’t just tell you "take the train,” she tells you which train, what time it leaves, how to get to the station and how to buy a ticket or use your rail pass. We saw so much in two weeks, and so much variety that provided a window into Japanese culture and the beauty of the country. Tanja is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and responsive, a joy to work with. Cannot recommend her enough. You will love working with her and your personally curated trip to Japan will be everything and more than you could hope for.  - Catey D., traveled to Japan in October 2023.

What my Japan travel planning service can do for you:

The Japan travel planning service includes the following:

Step 1 – Survey

  • Once payment has been received I’ll email you a short online survey for you to complete. This will give me an idea of your budget, time, and preferences. It will enable me to get to know you a little and personally customize the trip around your interests.

Step 2 – Your personalized day-by-day itinerary

  • Once you have completed the survey I will use the details to prepare a detailed day-by-day breakdown of your trip. This can include places to visit, places to stay, transport options and recommendations, where and what to eat, advice on logistics (those small travel details often not thought of), and my unique experience recommendations to make your trip extra special.

Or

30-minute video call

  • Japanese culture is unique and can be a little daunting for first-time visitors. Perhaps you don’t quite need a full itinerary but there are a few things you’re not sure about before you get on that plane. We can arrange a 30-minute call to go through any questions or concerns you have before you go. I’ll give you as many useful tips as I can that I have learned while living and traveling in Japan!

Step 3 – Follow-up emails

  • After you’ve received your personalized itinerary and had a chance to have a good read-through, I can respond to two emails to discuss any further queries you have about your itinerary or anything else.

My experience includes creating itineraries for honeymoons, luxury trips as well as solo travelers on a budget, so rest assured your personalized itinerary will be tailored to whatever budget you like.

A lot of research and many hours go into the planning process, a 7-day itinerary is so detailed it’s usually at least 50 pages long! Of course, you don’t have to follow the itinerary exactly, but I just want you to have all the information you might need.

Itinerary Review Service – 30-minutes

This service is ideal if you already have an itinerary planned but want a second opinion or have some questions about it. The service includes feedback on logistics, transportation choices, recommendations for things to improve your trip or make it easier, activities, and ideas for places to visit that you may not have thought about.
